Dutch spending more at illegal online casinos after stricter rules to protect gamblers
Following the implementation of stricter regulations aimed at protecting gamblers, Dutch players have increasingly turned to illegal online casinos. According to the Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA), approximately half of all online gambling expenditures are now directed toward unlicensed platforms. This shift is attributed to the more stringent rules imposed on legal operators, which may have inadvertently pushed gamblers toward unauthorized sites. In response, the KSA has intensified its efforts to combat illegal gambling, including the removal of 20 illicit gambling apps from app stores over the past three months.
